Guam Chamber of Commerce Eloise Baza Scholarship
This scholarship is sponsored and funded by the members of the Guam Chamber of Commerce in recognition of the achievements of the late Eloise R. Baza, Past President of the Guam Chamber of Commerce (1985 - 2007). The scholarship is made available to GCA Trades Academy apprentice students who are outstanding members of our Guam community and have a sincere desire to become a skilled trade journeyman, certified by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFIT:
· Up to $250.00 per month
· Up to five (5) GCA Trades Academy Apprenticeship Students to be selected
ELIGIBILITY:
Scholarship applicants must be interested individuals planning to become indentured apprentices and become enrolled in the GCA Trades Academy for their related classroom instruction. Applicants must possess an interest in working in the construction industry & a willingness to learn

HVAC: Introduction to Hydronic Systems & Air Quali
This 15-hour Level 2 course introduces hot water heating systems, focusing on safe operation of low-pressure boilers & piping systems commonly used in residential applications. The course also covers the basic principles, processes, & & devices used to control humidity & air clean lines, as well as devices sued to conserve energy in HVAC systems.

This 15-hour Level 2 course gives basic descriptions of various types of contactors & relays along with their practical applications.

Wiring: Residential
This 15-hour Level 1 course covers the electrical devices & wiring techniques common to residential construction & maintenance. Allows trainees to practice making service calculations. Stresses the appropriate NEC requirements.

Project Management Introduction to Project Managem
This 30-hour course is the 1st part of a 4-part project management program. This course introduces the role and responsibilities of project management, including technical & management skills, an overview of the phases in a construction project, & describes alternate project delivery methods. The course covers the importance of job safety & identifies the project manager's duties & responsibilities regarding safety as well as covers loss prevention & creating a zero-accident work environment. The course also discusses the value & expectations of the workforce, building relationships, & satisfying stakeholders as well as describes the principles of effective communication, applying the management grid, and using relationship skills to create a leadership environment.

Introduction to Hand Tools, Power Tools & Blueprin
This 3-module course introduces hand tools that are widely used in the construction industry, such as hammers, saws, levels, pullers, vices, & clamps; explains the specific applications of each tool; and shows how to use them properly. The course also discusses important safety & maintenance issues related to hand tools. The power tool module provides detailed descriptions of commonly used power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, and sanders and reviews applications, proper use, safety, and maintenance. The blueprint module introduces basic blueprint terms, components, & symbol; explains the different types of blueprint drawings (civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing/piping, & electrical); & instructs on how to interpret & use drawing dimensions.
